The last big e-commerce event of the year has officially come to an end. As we get ready to ring in the new year, we thought we’d take a look at how 12.12 fared. This way we’re sure to welcome 2021 equipped with the learnings and best practices we discovered from this year.   We’ve listed the top 3 best practices that got our customer’s their new selling records this 12.12, keep reading to find out!

First, let’s take a look at the overall 12.12 numbers:

Although the rest of the big marketplaces such as Lazada and Zalora have yet to share their 12.12 performance, Shopee already took a shot at it. According to the marketplace, a record-breaking 1M items were sold within 1 minute and during the first 24 minutes of the sale, a total of 12M items were sold.    As we wait for the numbers from Lazada and Zalora and all the others (which based from Shopee’s statistics would be record-breaking as well), we also wanted to show how our customers performed.

Omnirio customer’s 12.12 performance:

Our customers were able to sell up to 5X during 12.12 and broke 11.11 sales records with 20,000 increase in order volume. Overall total sales amount for 12.12 added up to 17.4M!   Overall, we were able to process a total of 138,250 orders in just one day. From one customer alone, a resounding 18,030 orders were successfully managed and processed during 12.12.   As stated, we saw an average of 5X increase in orders during 12.12 compared to regular days. But even with this increase, all our customers were able to manage and reduce their order cancellations to 0% being the best performance and 5% being the worst cancellation scenario. Which if you ask them, is still a good number. Compared to the volume of orders they were forced to cancel without Omnirio’s help.   In terms of category performance, three performed incredibly well: bags, furniture, tech accessories, cosmetics, and musical instruments.   As expected, our customer’s stores in the big marketplaces performed astoundingly. We served almost 90,000 orders for Lazada, followed by almost 40,000 orders for Shopee, and some more from Shopify and Zalora.

Our takeaway: learnings and best practices

We make it a habit to always check in with our customers, especially before, during, and after big sale days like 12.12. We did get positive news from them as they reported an overall increase in their sales, reduced order cancellations, and ease and convenience while managing their marketplaces. So now we’re sharing their 12.12 learnings and best practices.

1. Centralised and real-time stock syncing

According to them, they were able to significantly reduce order cancellations through their centralised and real-time inventory. They were able to easily manage the amount of inventory they have left and were able to cater to the demands of the market which have helped in increasing their overall sales.   Hear more about this from Mark, CEO of Guitar Pusher:     2. Access to view and manage all marketplaces in one place Having the capability to view their marketplaces activities in one place also proved invaluable to all our customers. It was easier to manage and process all the orders coming in from different channels, simultaneously.   Michael Co, CEO of VTECO Computer Solutions, Official UGREEN Distributor in the Philippines shares:   3. Engaging and attentive 24/7 customer support Our customers also mentioned that having our team who cater to all their needs 24/7 has given them assurance. With our customer support they were able to just focus on managing their orders. Making it possible to sell more in their marketplaces. Confident that if issues arise our team will be there real-time.

In fact we’re proud to report that we did not encounter any issue or complaints during 12.12. From it’s peak to the very end of the sale season.

Sophia Quintela, Brand Manager of Fifth Clothing, appreciates the support that comes with Omnirio’s platform:   Omnirio’s capabilities and best practices were able to successfully accompany our customers in their journey to their best selling day last 12.12— and for all the other events coming up!

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Selling from Omnirio!

At this point, it’s already clear how big the Holiday season can be for your business. We have also already established some ways to make sure you have a merry 12.12 and a merry Christmas this year by equipping you with the best practices for selling during this season. So now, we want to take it up a notch and help you make your 12.12 and Christmas merrier by bringing in a loyalty program into your Holidays equation!     “But how can it make my Christmas merrier?” you might ask. Well, it’s simple. You make your customers happier, you increase the chances of getting repeat purchases from them, and if you play your cards right you may even get a higher cart amount from your loyal customers!   We listed 5 ways of how you can leverage your loyalty program this year, for a merry 12.12 and Christmas season ahead of you! So take your notes out and get ready to write or type these down!

1. Give your loyalty program for free for a certain amount

First things first! Get people to join your loyalty program. During the Holiday season, people are willing to spend a certain amount for the season. Which means if someone sees that you’re offering your loyalty membership for free for let’s say a thousand pesos and have that amount to spend on your products, then you get a loyal customer instantly.   This will in turn help you leverage their loyalty membership to get them to buy again from you, even after the Christmas season!

2. Give membership updates and messages

During this season, the market is buzzing with different promotions from different brands. In order for you to catch the attention of your customers, give them special membership updates and messages. Personalise your communication with them so they know that they’re important to their brand.

3. Give special promotions

Aside from giving out special updates and messages, nothing can help you make your customers merrier than by giving them special promotions. Give an additional 5% off to those who belong to your loyalty program or give a little freebie on top of the items they purchase.   Plus if your customers think they get a better deal from you because of your loyalty program, chances are they would come back and buy from you more than once!

4. Give double points for a certain time period

One of the main reasons customers avail of loyalty programs is because of the rebate they get from it. They like collecting points knowing that they can buy an item from it if it gets to a certain amount.   So our tip? Double your points equivalent for a certain amount of time. Say for the week of 12.12 or 7 days until Christmas. This not only gives your customer more perks but also helps drive traffic to your business because of the limited-time offer. Plus, it’s easy to do this with the right tools!

5. Give Christmas-themed rewards

If I’m a loyalty customer, I get free gift wrapping for the items I ordered. But if I’m not I don’t. If I’m part of your loyalty program I get a free gift card to place on my gifts and if not then I don’t. These examples may seem too simplistic but it can actually go a long way.   There’s a lot of ways to make sure you have a Merry 12.12 and A Merry Christmas ahead, and of course to make sure you also make your customers merry while you’re at it.     We hope these quick tips helped you make your selling season this upcoming Christmas merrier! We have established that selling during the Christmas season entails its own opportunities and struggles. And amidst all these, we have agreed on one simple thing: it’s vital to always remember that you are selling and fulfilling your transactions during Christmas time. So in this read, we focus on one important aspect of that: not overselling and fulfilling orders in time.     Delivering orders in time may just be one of the most crucial things to practice during the Holidays. Your customers may be more impatient in general since chances are those orders aren’t just for them. The deadlines you gave them for their orders to arrive as stated by your marketplace SLAs or by your own web store policies are taken very seriously. If you say the orders will arrive in time for their Christmas parties, Noche Buenas, and family reunions on Christmas day, then they expect that to be the case.   So on that note, there is one thing you should NEVER do during the Holidays: Oversell. The most notorious suspect for causing failure to reach SLAs and fulfilling orders in time is overselling. If you don’t have the stocks on hand, you will never be assured that it can get to you in time and respectively get to your customers in time.
We have noted three tips for you to make sure you refrain from overselling! Hint: they all have something to do with your stocks!

#1 Refresh your stocks

This one’s a no-brainer. If you’re expecting a large demand for your products and you want to make sure that as much as possible you don’t oversell: stock-up! Look back at your past sales data and estimate the amount of products you should have on-hand, and then make sure you have that and more!   Tip: In this case, it’s better to have excess stocks rather than to run short of them!
Set stock thresholds and be notified easily through Omnirio.

#2 Get notified when stocks are low

Just in case your demand is a whole lot bigger than what you expected, you’d need a plan B. Fortunately, having the right tools for your stock management that has the capability to let you set thresholds on your product availability and notifies you when it reaches that number, can help you big time.   That might sound sophisticated but it just means that if you set your threshold to 100 SKUs and your product reaches that amount, you’ll get a notification reminding you to stock up. This way, you can stock up as fast as your demand goes up!

#3 Manage your stocks real-time

Having real-time access to your stocks across all your physical stores (if you have) and online marketplaces (Lazada, Zalora, Shopee, etc) and your own online webstore can be a lifesaver during times like these. Imagine being able to see how much of your stocks you have left in one convenient location. Imagine being able to manage and update all your stocks easily (you can even do it through your phone)!   And there you have it! Those three tips can be your way to make sure you don’t oversell during the busiest time of the year!
